Budget hotels in Lisbon: Places to stay for the cost-conscious visitor.

Budget hotels in Lisbon offer inexpensive accommodation options for visitors wishing to economize during their stay in the Portuguese capital. And if you know where to look there’s no need to rein in style or comfort. Located on the city’s lively Avenida Alimirante Reis is Lisbon City Hotel, a three-star that thinks it’s a four star. Similarly, Hotel Dom Afonso Henriques is surprisingly upscale, but is sited further away from the city centre. At Pensão Residencial Portuense the emphasis is very much on value for money but not at the expense of comfort and cleanliness. Likewise, Hotel do Chile is a two-star choice with comfortable and wholly adequate accommodation facilities. A real bargain is Dom Sancho I, a two-star option on the city’s fashionable Avenida da Liberdade. Back on Almirante Resi is the chic, friendly Masa Hotel Almirante, another great three-star bet. Backpackers often make a beeline for the smart Pensão Nova Goa, where the bed and breakfast offer is excellent and way above hostel standards. Meanwhile, the Botânico Hotel up in Principe Real is known for its comfortable and stylish presentation, with prices set below the norm for this kind of property. For something a bit different check in to the South-American themed Amazonia Lisboa Hotel. A bit dated perhaps, but still very convenient. But if you’re looking for a more familiar brand, the Ibis Lisboa Liberdade is always worth staying in.
